10-12 graduate and senior undergraduate students undertake independent linguistic fieldwork in this course, usually on undocumented or under-documented languages and typically in remote areas of the world. Through videoconferencing, students discuss experiences in fieldwork with four leading linguistic researchers, working in different remote areas of the world in Australia, Amazonia, North America, and Africa. Students also interact with an indigenous informant in Australia.
