SM 313: Sports Management

SM 313 001:  Focuses on comparative aspects of sports organization in Germany and the USA. The aim is to engage students in discussion with each other to understand both the cultural differences in the approach to sport and the consequences of this for sports organization,

SM 313 002:  Focuses primarily on the organization of major sporting events. Professor Hirata played a leading role in the hosting of the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan, and Tokyo is favorite to win the 2020 Olympic Games. Michigan students are engaged in developing a proposal for hosting the 2024 Olympic Games in Detroit.
