American students will greatly benefit from these experiences, as they will see a much wider range of medical problems and complications than they would see at the University of Michigan. They will also have the opportunity to discuss and gain a better understanding of cross cultural differences in care, including local healers and other more regionally-based care options and also from discussions with their Ugandan counterparts. This also will be the only easily accessible interactive case conference available to Makerere students in the psychiatry, psychology, and pediatrics departments at their medical school.
